Deputy Managing Director
Md Noor Alam is one of the most prolific and gifted minds of air conditioner manufacturing in Bangladeshi history. He has played an instrumental role in breaking Bangladesh’s dependence on foreign imported Air Conditioner and has pioneered in establishing the core manufacturing facility that could produce the world class products right here at our doorstep. Building on his father’s footsteps, he did his best to contribute to the local and global HVAC industry and community.
Growing up from a humble upbringing, he worked in numerous multinational corporations (MNC’s) in Bangladesh and Australia in his early life. These ground-up experiences helped him to groom the right skillsets for an impactful journey in the air conditioner manufacturing sector in Bangladesh. He came back to Bangladesh from overseas in 2013. During that time, the market share of foreign imported air conditioners was more than 90%. He started working with a vision to provide every citizen of Bangladesh access to world class home appliance products at an affordable price through local manufacturing and a technological exchange program with premium international brands. Within a decade, the table has turned, and the market share of locally manufactured air conditioners has collectively reached around 90% of the market size, and the price of air conditioners in the Bangladesh market has dropped significantly over the years.
Noor is known for his out-of-the-box approach for factory design and equipment customisation in the national and international manufacturing consultation arena. Other than his expertise in manufacturing machinery and process design, his core technical area of interest are Decarbonisation, Refrigeration & AC Equipment Design & Performance, Refrigeration Load Calculations, Low Temperature Refrigeration, Industrial & Transport Refrigeration, Food & Beverage Refrigeration, Industrial and Kitchen Ventilation, Commissioning & Testing/Balancing Duct Design & Room Air Distribution, Hotel, Motel & Resort HVAC Design, Environmentally friendly refrigerants and materials, Lubricants, & Refrigerant Systems Controls, Instruments & Psychrometric labs.
Elite Hitech Industries Ltd is a Pioneer of Air Conditioning Manufacturing in Bangladesh. As Deputy Managing Director, Noor led the team to design and build this state-of-the-art facility in Bangladesh back in 2014. Along with designing, implementing, and commissioning a complete Air Conditioner Manufacturing Plant, he was also working on new product development, process optimisation, yield improvement, product reliability improvement, process validation, and cycle time reduction. He has implemented multiple process development techniques, troubleshooting, failure mode and root cause identification. He has also implemented changes through engineering change order liaising with the R&D team, internal/external customers, and stakeholders. Noor has delivered in-depth process transfer, created and maintained process specification, monitored production lines, drove continuous improvement activities, and coached partner engineers, service engineers, and field technicians.
Noor’s signature contribution to Bangladesh’s air conditioner industry was the introduction of hydrophilic golden fin which became an industry standard in Bangladesh over time. Also the first high precision and high efficiency 5 mm copper condenser production, which helped to reduce the energy consumption of air conditioners significantly. Later, that too became an industry benchmark for the country. He played a key role in Bangladesh’s Air conditioner’s Performance Requirements and Energy Labeling standard (BDS 1852:2022 : Bangladesh Standard Specification for Room Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps – Performance Requirements and Energy Labeling) preparation as a member of Constitution of Specialized Products and Households Appliances Sectional Committee of BSTI.
As a part of its commitment towards quality, Elite Hitech passed the Factory Manufacturing Audit of Japanese air conditioner giant Panasonic in 2018. This event marks a historic event for the country which cemented the confirmation that Bangladeshi manufacturing industry can meet the Japanese stringent standard and hence can provide the superior quality air conditioner in Bangladesh market. Elite Hitech Industries Limited also receives the certifications of ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Impact and Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management) as a result of best work practices. Elite Hitech Industries also received approval from BSTI (BDS1852:2022) as per mandatory Bangladeshi law for its products since 2019.
Industry Academia collaboration is a big part of the Elite Hitech Industry culture. Noor has been engaging in numerous product development and improvement related R&D projects with esteemed professor’s of BUET, AUST and IUBAT and their teams of students. Noor also believes in giving back to the society and the community very strongly. Therefore, he has been a part of the curriculum review committee for the OBE (Outcome Based Education) program as per Washington Accord for the following university.
